Cabanas has its coast beside the mouth of the River Eume, on the Ría de Ares. Madalena beach, a stretch of sand of just over a kilometre, is bordered by a nine-hectare pine wood, and at its northern end, beside a cliff, the Sendeiro da Costa path begins. The path passes Chamoso beach, a small stretch of sand between cliffs where schist rock alternates with sand, and reaches the mouth of the River Castro, on the boundary with Fene.
