Bergondo lies on the western shore of the Ría de Betanzos, on the Ártabro Gulf, within the natural district of As Mariñas dos Condes. Its coast is low and sandy, with salt marshes where the Mendo and Mandeo rivers meet the sea, and part of the municipality lies within the Betanzos-Mandeo protected area, part of the Natura 2000 network. Its beaches include Gandarío, O Pedrido, on both sides of the bridge that joins the two shores of the ría, and O Regueiro.
