About the coast in the Valencian Community
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The Valencia region looks out onto the Mediterranean with a coast of sand and rock, ranging from large beaches beside seafront promenades to small coves. In Castellón, the Costa Azahar has beaches and coves, such as the wild coves at the foot of the Sierra de Irta, and natural areas such as the Columbretes Islands archipelago.
In València, El Saler beach, surrounded by dunes and pine woods, lies within the Albufera Natural Park. On the Costa Blanca, in Alicante, one cove follows another as far as the Peñón de Ifach, in Calp, and Dénia is home to the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Nature Reserve, with the rock formation of the Cova Tallada.

Getting to know the sea in the Valencian Community

Winds here have names: levante (from the east) and poniente (from the west).
Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.
- Tide
In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.
