The coast of Cantabria faces the Cantabrian Sea and alternates urban beaches, such as El Sardinero in Santander, with wilder and quieter ones. Along the coastline lie seafaring towns such as San Vicente de la Barquera, Comillas, Suances, Santoña, Laredo, Noja and Castro Urdiales.
Oyambre Natural Park protects the San Vicente and La Rabia estuaries and the beaches, dunes and cliffs that stretch between them, with beaches open to the sea such as Merón and Oyambre. On the left bank of the mouth of the Pas, the Dunas de Liencres y Costa Quebrada Natural Park brings together a large dune system, the Pas estuary and part of the coast of the Costa Quebrada geopark.
