Valcobo beach, also known as Area Grande, is a stretch of very fine white sand in a corner of the Arteixo coast hidden among hills. It is enclosed by the Compás headland and Mount Petón, which make it hard to see from the path and shelter it from the south-westerly and north-easterly winds that prevail in the area. It has strong waves and is used for surfing. At one end lies the San Xián sea cave, which can only be reached at low tide.
