About Playa de Zahara de los Atunes

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Zahara de los Atunes beach belongs to the former fishing settlement of Zahara de los Atunes, in Barbate, which has become a resort with hotels and homes from which the sand can be reached. It has a fairly wide strip of dry sand, the mouth of the River Cachón, and dunes interspersed with built-up areas. Its history is bound up with the almadraba tuna trap: the Dukes of Medina Sidonia had a palace right on the beach where the tuna that was caught was processed.
