Playa de Getares lies to the south of Algeciras, outside the bay, and is a well-established urban beach on the open sea, with fine golden sand. It fills the Getares cove, between the mountains and the sea, from the cliffs at its southern end to the residential area of the same name, and the seasonal waters of the River Pícaro reach the sea at its southern end. It has a seafront promenade and can be reached by car along the Getares road, by local bus, by bicycle or on foot. The Strait Natural Park begins at the Getares cove and runs as far as Cabo de Gracia, in Tarifa.
