About the coast in Gran Canaria
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
Gran Canaria has 236 kilometres of coastline washed by the Atlantic Ocean, with fine golden sand beaches, urban beaches, natural pools and secluded coves reached from the sea or through ravines. In the capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Las Canteras beach runs along the bay for more than three kilometres, sheltered by a rocky reef known as La Barra.
On the coast at the southern tip, the Maspalomas Dunes Special Nature Reserve brings together a beach, a field of shifting sand dunes, a palm grove and a brackish lagoon, the Charca de Maspalomas, next to the lighthouse. The south also has beaches such as San Agustín, Amadores and Puerto de Mogán, and the island has remote stretches of sand such as Güi-Güi.
