About the coast in Tenerife
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The coast of Tenerife, washed by the Atlantic, combines black volcanic sand beaches, such as El Bollullo, near Puerto de la Cruz, with golden sand beaches in the south, such as Las Vistas, in Los Cristianos, and La Tejita, next to the Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve. Near Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the capital, lies Las Teresitas beach.
At the north-eastern tip, Anaga Rural Park, declared a Biosphere Reserve, covers a mountain massif whose ravines reach the sea, with black sand coves such as Benijo and beaches such as Roque de las Bodegas. At the north-western tip, Teno Rural Park takes in coastal cliffs and Punta de Teno, the westernmost point of the island, and within it the Los Gigantes cliffs drop to the sea from heights of up to 600 metres.

How do I know if I can swim at beaches in Tenerife today?
Each beach's page gives you today's verdict: we combine AEMET warnings, the latest water analysis from the Ministry of Health and the weather and sea forecast. A red warning is enough for us not to recommend a beach. At the beach, always follow the lifeguards' instructions.
Which beaches in Tenerife have a Blue Flag?
Playa de las Vistas: Blue Flag 2026-2027, according to ADEAC. It is a seasonal award and says nothing about how the beach is today.
