About the coast in the province of Alicante
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The province of Alicante, in the south of the Valencian Community, is known by the tourist name Costa Blanca, a Mediterranean landscape in which beaches alternate with mountainous terrain. There are beaches of fine sand and of pebbles, tucked behind dunes, next to pine woods or beneath steep cliffs. To the north, in the Marina Alta, the mountains reach the shore and form cliffs and coves between long fine-sand beaches in Dénia, Xàbia or Benissa.
Above Benidorm, l'Alfàs del Pi and Altea rises the Serra Gelada, a natural park that protects the range, its sea cliffs and the islets of la Mitjana, Benidorm, l'Olla and la Galera. To the south, from Alicante to Pilar de la Horadada, steep coves such as those of Santa Pola give way to lines of dunes, above all in Guardamar del Segura. Near the coast there are wetlands and salt marshes such as the La Mata lagoons, in Torrevieja, and El Hondo, in Elche.

Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.
- Tide
In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.
