About the coast in Valencia
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The Costa de Valencia is the coastline of the province of Valencia, in eastern Spain, on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Long stretches of fine golden sand are common, such as those of Cullera, Gandia, Miramar, Canet d'en Berenguer, Sueca, Oliva and the city of València itself.
Wetlands with rice fields and orange groves form a typical landscape that contrasts with the beaches, and there are marshes such as those of El Puig and Xeraco. Next to València, l'Albufera Natural Park brings together a large freshwater lake surrounded by rice fields and a narrow coastal strip, La Devesa. Within the park, beaches such as El Saler, la Devesa and la Garrofera are surrounded by dunes and pine woods.

Getting to know the sea in Valencia
- Wind
Winds here have names: levante (from the east) and poniente (from the west).
Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.
- Tide
In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.
- Bathing water
