About the coast in Torremolinos

By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated

Torremolinos, on the Costa del Sol, has its beaches on the Mediterranean, between the boundary with Málaga and Benalmádena. They are Los Álamos, next to the Málaga boundary, Playamar, El Bajondillo, with dark sand and in the town centre, and La Carihuela, which runs as far as the small Saltillo beach. Between El Bajondillo and La Carihuela, La Punta or Morro de Torremolinos splits the seafront promenade in two, and both districts keep their fishing tradition.

Getting to know the sea in Torremolinos

Wind

Winds here have names: terral (off the land), levante (from the east) and poniente (from the west).

Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.

Tide

In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.
