The coast of Bizkaia runs from Muskiz to Ondarroa, facing the Cantabrian Sea, with fishing villages along the shore. It has beaches of every kind, from urban ones to others surrounded by cliffs, dunes and woods, such as Barinatxe, between Getxo and Sopela, Barrika and Azkorri in Getxo, with a large dune area.
Between the capes of Matxitxako and Ogoño lies Urdaibai, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO: the river Oka becomes an estuary on reaching Mundaka and forms a wide estuary with marshes, cliffs and beaches such as Laida and Laga, the latter beneath the Ogoño crag. On the coast of Bermeo lies the landmark of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
