About the coast in Benidorm
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
Benidorm, on the Costa Blanca, opens onto the Mediterranean in a bay embraced by the Serra Gelada and the Tossal de la Cala. Its seafront brings together the Levante and Poniente beaches, of fine golden sand, the small Mal Pas beach, facing the island of Benidorm, and coves such as Tío Ximo and La Almadrava. The Serra Gelada Natural Park extends over land and sea: it includes cliffs and a marine area that reaches the bay, with posidonia meadows and rocky seabeds around the island.

Getting to know the sea in Benidorm
- Wind
Winds here have names: levante (from the east) and poniente (from the west).
Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.
- Tide
In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.
