About the coast in Mallorca
By Equipe editorial GTM Labs · Updated
The coast of Mallorca, in the Mediterranean, combines coves, beaches and cliffs. In the north-west, the Serra de Tramuntana, a World Heritage Site, forms cliffs with rock and shingle coves such as Cala Tuent, Cala Deià or Cala Estellencs.
The coast also includes the long sandy beaches of Alcúdia Bay and Es Trenc, the coves of the east and fishing villages such as Portocolom. In the south-east, Es Trenc-Salobrar de Campos Natural Park brings together a dune system, the Salobrar wetland and salt pans, and Es Trenc beach.

Getting to know the sea in Mallorca
- Wind
Winds here have names: tramontana (from the north), mestral (from the north-west), garbí (from the south-west) and levante (from the east).
Each beach page uses these names when they blow, and they count in the verdict like any other wind. Each name links to its definition.
- Tide
In the Mediterranean the tide varies by only a few centimetres, so we do not mark high or low tide.

We cover 3 beaches in Mallorca, checked one by one: Playa Port d'Alcúdia, Playa de Es Trenc and Playa de Palma. Each beach's page has today's verdict and the reasons.
How do I know if I can swim at beaches in Mallorca today?
Each beach's page gives you today's verdict: we combine AEMET warnings, the latest water analysis from the Ministry of Health and the weather and sea forecast. A red warning is enough for us not to recommend a beach. At the beach, always follow the lifeguards' instructions.
Which beaches in Mallorca have a Blue Flag?
Playa Port d'Alcúdia: Blue Flag 2026-2027, according to ADEAC. It is a seasonal award and says nothing about how the beach is today.
